Friendship is something that should never be neglected. When I say friendship, sometimes it’s even people that we don’t know that we happened to meet the shopping center at a restaurant just walking. How? Taking a walk on the street. We meet people each and every day. Or we at least put ourselves out there to have the opportunity to meet people.
Ask the question that maybe seems stupid. I can guarantee you it is not. Whatever other may think or judge you for questioning, you are doing everyone a big favour in using your courage to ask the question. You will discover that many would like to be the one that asks it, but are in fear of ridicule and negative opinions from others.

Se lever et poser la question qui te rend inconfortable peut te paraître stupide. Change ton état d’esprit, tu n’es pas seul, mais tu es le plus courageux pour poser la question.

Do you feel tired of your everyday routine? Do you wish to be somewhere else at this point in your life—just enjoying your life to the fullest or simply doing nothing? Things happen every day and sometimes, their overwhelming presence makes you yearn to escape away from reality, and be happy. Having fun helps us to take it with a grain of salt, the trials and obstacles we sometimes face on our journey.
But we often lose our inner spark and the drive that makes us wake up every morning with enthusiasm. We seem to forget that life is meant to be lived with balance and harmony. The difficulties of life, the environment, and the negative actions we encounter daily, quietly hide, without realizing it, the fun and frivolous side of our lives.
The Reality of Life
With a state of mind anchored among the problems of the day, little by little we begin to look at bad habits for happiness and an escape. Alcohol, drugs, and other activities to escape the present moment cast a thick mist on our soul. When our heart stops using the imaginary to travel, our body and our thoughts betray us with a false image of happiness and of a good life. We run towards every shiny object. We seek temporary relief to fill up the void in our hearts. We buy new gadgets and material things to ease our feeling of emptiness. We desperately search for people, things, and places to help us ease our burden.
We are all trying not to miss out on what we believe will unleash us from the chains we have tied ourselves with. While ignoring the physical and mental signs that manifest inside us and that they are shouting at us, the path taken will make us lose the meaning of our lives. We begin to hate our daily routine and resent the constant pressure from our bosses, peers, family members, or friends. At this juncture, we deserve a break.
Is there a way out without abandoning your current existence? Fortunately, there is one way to recharge your energy and review your present life. The solution is so simple and can also be difficult. Only a desire to change the path we are on will push us towards a happy horizon. Take a break, close your eyes. Observe how life is beautiful when influences from outside your body no longer manifest themselves.
The Power of Imagination
As adults, we experience the harsh truths of real competition and survival. We face the constant discomfort and struggle that life throws on us. We realize that life is a bed of roses with thorns, always ready to stab us when we are not careful. We yearn for the days during our childhood when we are free to spend all day living in an imaginary world, creating fantasies that take us to the secret wonderland and infinite space where everything is possible.
Imagination is a powerful tool that we have at our disposal. It is the gateway that can transform our lives from ordinary to extraordinary. It is the key to living a joyful, meaningful, and creative life. Yet, we seem to forget the power of our mind to create visuals that can influence our mindset and feelings. We stop daydreaming, thinking that it is just for the young dreamers who do not have access to the multiple ladders of success. But there is nothing wrong or childish about tapping our imagination to shape our mental well-being. Think of it as a brain exercise that strengthens your cognitive muscles, bringing you to a deeper realm of consciousness.
It is a door to escape reality.
Life sucks sometimes. We need to escape for a while and release the negative energies that envelop our being. All the bad news, crimes, violence and sadness around us can dampen our happy spirits, viewing life in uncertainty. The ongoing pandemic is taking its toll on our mental health, making us feel stressed, bored, or afraid of the future.
Choosing to be optimistic during this time is vital to our well-being and happiness. It requires flexing our imaginative muscles to trigger hope by tapping our power to visualize good things in our lives. Hope is the glue that keeps us holding on to our dreams, our goals, and our own reality. When there is hope, there is transformation and change. These two elements are vital to our own existence.
It is the key to innovation.
“Reality is just an illusion, but a persistent one.” — Albert Einstein
In essence, reality is the outward manifestation of what we decide to do in this world. It represents the things we accept and pursue. But in this real world, there are limitations and rules that govern us. They bring frustrations and emotional fatigue, making us feel restricted and paralyzed to live the life we want.
Our imagination is a vital key to recreate or reshape our lives. Think about the things and situations that make your life difficult. Is there a way out? Can you do something to end your constant dilemma? Use your imaginative power to delve within and find innovative ways that will enhance your day-to-day tasks. Stop perpetuating the reality that does not give you fulfillment and tap your passion to enhance your life and the world around you.
It ignites passion.
Going through our mundane tasks every day saps our energy and enthusiasm. All the bills to pay and responsibilities to deal with can sometimes dictate how we live our lives and view our world. Oftentimes, we do not have the luxury of time to take a long vacation or pursue our own interests.
But there is one thing within our reach that can help us break away from reality—daydreaming. It lets us tap our imagination to bring back the things that make our hearts flutter with excitement and jump into action—our passion. Imagination helps us remember our childhood dreams, our secret fantasies, and the life we want to enjoy.
Indulge yourself to the magical experience that will bring back the spark in your heart, the spring in your steps, and the optimism to pursue your passions. Let mind and body be rocked by the waves of your imagination. Give free rein to your subconscious to transport you to the shores that you have hidden deep within you. The places where your heart carried your mind at a younger age.
It shapes your future.
Your imagination literally creates your reality. What you are doing right now is the product of your previous decisions that are connected with your primary thoughts and vision. So, if you do not like what is happening in your life now, go back to your secret world and visualize your future life. Use the power of your mind to manifest what you want in your life. Decide to live a better, healthier, and happier life. Live the way you like right now and work towards your goals. Balance your priority and passion, using your imagination to create harmony in your life. You don’t have to physically travel to experience magical moments. You only have to observe the world around you and feed your imagination with things you want to manifest in your life.
It is never too late to recapture our happy spirit. It is within us. It may lie dormant at the moment because we evolved into adults who take our career and personal responsibilities seriously. By tapping your higher intelligence through imagination, you set off a strong resonance with the mystical universe, attracting the universal laws to make your dreams come true. Let your heart and your mind bring joy and happiness to your body and soul. Suddenly, the discomforts you generate will disappear. Repeat this journey every day and watch your life evolve into what you always wanted.
Have you ever felt unproductive when a certain day ends? When all of your plans don’t happen the way you want them to be, you suddenly feel guilty.
There are so many ways to manage our time. All of us are given 24 hours in a day but how do we use it? Time flies so fast not realizing the day is already over. Time seems to be so short. It’s like today you’re here, and tomorrow you’re gone. Have you done the things that really matter to you? If not, now is the best time to do it. There may not be a tomorrow for us in this busy life of ours, so if not now, then when?
The essence of time lies in our own hands. We have the capacity to choose how we will make it worthwhile whilst enjoying the time that we have and whom we have to spend it with. I hope we will all get to know it so we’ll not regret what wasted time we’re going to have if we continue to just hurry and go with the flow.
What Happens When We Lose Control
Blaming others. Some of us tend to blame others for being unproductive throughout the day. Others would always find someone to blame for their own mistakes. There are even instances when, knowingly or unknowingly, we put down people who are unable to take their own responsibilities in a way we want them to, especially when they end up messing our own timelines.
In a work setting and even at home, it’s understandable to want to take on a mountain of tasks in a single day by getting help from someone else. However, people can only work to a certain extent that sometimes it is impossible to block together certain tasks in a single day. As the saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day.” Putting blame on yourself or others because your ideal timeline wasn’t followed isn’t going to do any good for anyone.
Self-destruction. There are a number of people who are born to be strongly connected with their emotions. When these people are routinely put in situations that are emotionally taxing, they may feel greatly overwhelmed by things they can’t control. So, there’s a high chance that they will eventually try to “turn off” the pain. At first, they may tell themselves: “I’m just going to try not to feel” or “I’m just not going to think about it.” Over time, they may feel as if they needed additional help in turning off these painful emotions. If you’re like this, then your likelihood of self-destructing is high.
Depression. Some of us can feel sad, empty, hopeless, lost, and irritable in some instances. Have you lost interest or pleasure in your hobbies or being with friends and even family because you feel like there’s always not enough time? Are you having trouble sleeping at night, eating, and functioning in your daily routines because you keep thinking about things you didn’t or couldn’t do today? You may feel trapped in a vicious cycle of planning your day and ending up not being able to do anything. When you try to control things, you have no way of controlling, you will end up wasting time thinking about what should be done without working on it until you’re not able to do anything at all.
Change Your Mindset to Control Time
As they say, “One can live for weeks without food and days without water, but no one can live one second without time,” and that is very true no matter who or what we are in this life. No amount of influence, power, money, and even fame can change the fact that when your time is up, you are done. In this fleeting existence, one cannot say where this life can take us, and so we have to understand that even though we cannot ever control time, the least we can do is change how we see it.
Determine the mindset you need and act on it. People nowadays are pressured to try and get more things done that time management has become a critical skill in this modern time. They say your thoughts become your reality and that whatever you seek, you attract. If you keep on telling yourself that “I am not good enough for this and that,” you’re wasting precious time manifesting these negative thoughts and not doing anything.
But if you start telling yourself, “I got this!” this will encourage a mindset of positivity instead of fear that will push you towards reaching your goal. Keep in mind that a positive brain is more productive, more creative, and more engaged. While it is true that the real essence of time varies from one person to another, it is still important to plan ahead and act towards your set goals.
Create new habits. The key to creating positive habits is by being consistent with what you do. It can be fun to start a new routine and find new ways to make time work for you. But you must be willing to substitute new cues, routines, and rewards just in case the first plan doesn’t work out. Start looking at how you sleep, what you eat, what mindset you’re attracting, and make it a priority to care for yourself rather than injecting more work in your calendar by sacrificing your time for rest and relaxation.
Take a look at your calendar and omit anything that could be consuming your time and energy and replace it with activities that promote self-care like a short leisurely walk outside or sipping a cup of tea by the window. These small changes will set out the foundation for a healthy mind and will help you learn to prioritize.
Having the right mindset must also come with the ability to create new habits that will go along with your path in developing your life’s true essence. While some people value material things in life, I value my peace of mind. I created a space for clarity and being at peace with what I do and do not have. I can’t also imagine clutter within my sight as it clouds my head, and that birthed another habit in helping me value my time and energy.
Challenge your thoughts. Our mind is a powerful thing, and the biggest challenge is happening between our two ears. The way you perceive your life is what makes you happy or unhappy. You can confront your beliefs by weighing things that emphasize the good and bad in life or thinking of how to improve ours as well as others’ living standards. With this pandemic at large, what do you do to keep you and your family safe? How do you keep yourself informed? What can you do to keep your thoughts active?
Learning is a continuous process. What you know now may not be true years later, so you have to keep feeding yourself with new knowledge. Instead of dwelling on things you can’t control, it would be best to spend time doing things that will enhance your mind or see the world in a whole new light amidst the hubbub that’s spreading around you.
How to Spend Time Wisely
Time always seems to stop when I’m on the right track. Time is always on my side if I act on the actions to be taken. If I spend my time analyzing and doing non-productive things, time disappears and slips through my fingers like sand. This mentality is under my control. I have my hand on the tap. The flow is adjusted by me. Nothing else controls the flow.
Time is the only thing we can’t get back when it’s lost, and to make sure it is spent wisely, we have to stay in charge of it rather than time keeping a firm grasp on us. You are the master of your own time, and you decide how you run your day. The first thing in the morning, write down your goals and prioritize those you think will you win the day. In this way, you can adjust your time accordingly and help you avoid spending too much time on things that require the least amount of attention.
Appreciate the time you’ve been given and never stop learning ways to make it all worth your while. There’s nothing wrong with hard work and perseverance, but being too eager to do too much may lead to overworking yourself that you forget the most essential parts of your being. Know your own limits. You don’t have to fill up every second of the day only to end up feeling overwhelmed. No matter how busy you want to be to feel a sense of fulfillment, never leave out from your schedule a part of your life that makes you human. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break once in a while. After that, you will feel much better about yourself and think as if you can take on anything that life throws at you.
If you have too many tasks or goals to accomplish, you may need to ask for a hand or to delegate responsibilities. This can help free much of your time to work on other projects. Finally, don’t forget to thank the person or give a reward in exchange for the help you have received. It doesn’t have to be anything grand. You’ll be surprised to know how a simple gratitude note can go a long way.
Remember that time is too valuable just to be spent on things that make you unhappy or on things that don’t get you any closer to your goals. Learn to say no and not be guilty of not doing something you don’t want to. At the end of the day, you’re the only one who can decide how you want to spend your time.
I take control of my time by making decisions and then taking action immediately on important things to move me towards my goal.
It is never too late to take time and go back to the basics. Know what matters and stick with it until you reach your goal. Be realistic with your expectations and know that good change doesn’t happen overnight. Time is a resource that’s easy to waste, so plan ahead and remember to act on it soon after. Benjamin Franklin wrote, “You may delay, but time will not.” Time will keep ticking and certainly will not wait on anyone, whether we like it or not.
Have you ever been in that situation where you think this has happened to you before? Deja vu? When you feel like you can already predict the outcome based on your past experience or someone else’s? You tend to overthink things to bridge a better future from your past and hope that this will give greater solutions to your daily dilemmas. How calculated does that sound, right?
The Beauty of Planning
Planning is part of our everyday lives. From deciding what time, you will wake up to go to work or school, to planning what to eat or what to wear. It is also like planning for an out-of-town trip. Before you leave, you always make sure you have your itinerary listed so you can make the most out of your trip. Same with our daily lives, we always want to make sure we make the most out of our time so we can be productive and satisfied at the same time.
Maxwell Maltz, author of Psycho-Cybernetics published in 1960, if you learn to plan all your activities continuously within 21 days, it becomes a habit. With this, planning would be just a natural thing within your system. Having a great planning skill helps you from the smallest to the biggest aspects of your life. It helps you organize your daily routine and be more productive; more tasks will surely be done.
As you plan your daily activities, you will be able to set a specific time as to how long it takes for a task to be done. As a result, you will also have extra time to rest and won’t be exhausted. Furthermore, planning is like having a map with specific directions as to how you can reach your destination or life goal. It may be a small one, like working on a project before a deadline or a big one like working your way up to have your business be more successful.
The Negative of Overthinking
Most of us think compulsively all of the time. We place so much attention on what happened in the past and try to think of ways to forge a better future. Each day we try to find of a better solution. We try to predict an outcome based on past experiences. How screwed up does that sound like.
Oh no, that happened to me before so it will happen again.
I know this will happen because I heard that someone else went through the same thing. What will he think this time?
I knew she was going to say or do that.
What I am writing is not diminishing the power of planning. It’s the fact that once planning has finished, stop thinking about it, just do it. Instead, for so many, we talk to ourselves too much. We talk ourselves out of taking action. Funny that this phase would be associated with madness decades ago. Now, this behaviour has become commonplace in countless lives.
It’s already been proven that the human brain is being used to create great things such as art, architecture and infrastructure. It is also being used to study, get a degree, be a professional, or anything that can be done to be successful in life. This is why our mind is such a precious tool. We must take great care of what we let into our minds.
But what do you think can happen when our thoughts eat us up and they start to get out of control?
Overthinking is a very dangerous thing that we do. It controls our emotions which leads us to create a lot of scenarios in our minds from what happened in the past or what can happen next over and over again. The “what if” question often pops up in our minds, thinking about what could have been done better and we worry too much about the future which prevents us from being in the present moment.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be making plans for our lives. What I am saying is you should stop overthinking. Whatever we do, the past can’t be changed. What we can do is bring the lessons from our past experiences so that we can start making a better decision today.
If we keep talking all the time, we don’t listen anymore. Same goes for thinking all the time. When I constantly talk to myself, I can’t hear what my mind is trying to tell me. I only have thoughts and nothing else. These thoughts are programmed in my subconscious from past events and emotions generated from them. Therefore, by thinking all of the time, I keep reaffirming the symbols of my past. By doing this, I lose my relationship with reality. This is the first basic reason for meditation.
Tomorrow Never Comes
The future is just a concept and it doesn’t exist. It will never exist. Like the old proverb says: “Tomorrow never comes.” Tomorrow does not exist, it will never exist. We discover this only when we stop talking to ourselves. We discover that there is no future, there is only the present moment, only the eternal now.
Jerry Spinelli wrote, “Live today, not yesterday, not tomorrow, just today. Inhabit your moments. Don’t rent them out to tomorrow.” After careful planning, stop, learn to wait for the result, and do not overthink. Stop predicting that the outcome will be the same. Afterall, if we make mistakes today, then we learn from it today. Focus on things that are in front of you. Your energy and time are precious. For me, what I do to help me achieve this, is through meditation.
Why I Meditate
When you find your inner self confused, anxious, and stressed, the best and most inexpensive remedy is to meditate. Meditation greatly improves not just your mental but also physical health. It lets you train your mind to focus your attention and awareness on your present state.
Meditation doesn’t have an end goal or a purpose unlike almost everything else we do in our lives. Contrary to what is taught in regard to meditation, it doesn’t have an end goal. There is no point to get to or finality to meditation.
Playing music is a great example. We don’t play music to get to the end of the piece. Or else the fastest players would obviously be the best. We play for the journey and the journey exists while we play, not by getting to the end.
Meditation is aligned in the same manner. Through meditation we get, the ability to discover the purpose of life is in the immediate moment. If meditation is used to create and project a new future for yourself, improve your station and acquire more wealth, you have your attention on the future, this is not meditating.
Meditation is tantamount to enjoyment and fulfillment. Some of my friends ask me why I do it, and I always respond that it’s because it centres me on the now and I enjoy it. I wouldn’t be doing it daily if I find it like a task or duty. There’s no fun in that. My essential principles of meditation is peace, mindfulness and enjoyment of life.
Meditation, when done correctly, it brings your mind into the present moment. Meditation lets you dive into the eternal now. It creates a state of peace where I discover that the point of life resides in the present moment, here and now.
Meditation quiets my mind. It does not need to take a lot of my time. People that meditate seem to have more time in the day. It is because they are aware of themselves and how to optimize their strengths to their advantage.
It is not difficult to meditate. Others think that you can’t meditate when your mind is crawling with many thoughts, when in fact, when you have a lot in your mind, that’s the best time to do it. It helps you redirect your thoughts and energy so you can create a better state of mind and prevents you getting easily distracted.
While planning may give you head start, overthinking of the possibilities may lead to failure. Focus your attention on this moment because you will never have access to this precise moment twice. Use meditation to focus your energy where it will be most useful, now.
“Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.” — Oprah Winfrey
