Unstoppable—Be Positively Unstoppable.

I am a strong believer in our ability to create any outcome we desire in our lives and be positively unstoppable. No reason can stop someone who has a clear and perfectly planned goal. The only thing that stands between you and your goal … is YOU.

If you knew success was a certainty, what would you attempt to do?

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, so many decisions and actions were taken just “because that’s the way it’s always been done.” People didn’t like change. They didn’t want to think too long or hard about what they were doing. Today, we’re forced to deeply reconsider everything. Nothing is taken for granted anymore. That means we can finally find the will to create change. “A crisis like this can shift the options that we are willing to collectively take seriously,” says Brian Berkey.

The things we try to convince ourselves, and all the negative self-talk we internalize on a daily basis, are a contributing factor in raising obstacles on our journey or path. In time, these small obstacles become tall mountains in our mind. Our subconscious start to trick us into thinking it is impossible to overcome. That is the moment we believe what we have been convincing yourself of. That is the moment we abandon our dreams and accept the status quo we are living in that moment in time as the life we will have for the rest of our days.

So many dreams and ambitions are washed away in a fraction of a second because of a lifetime of negative self-talk.

I can’t do that.

I’m not good enough.

It’s easy for her, she has money.

I can’t exercise because my knees hurt.

My parents raised me like that.

The list goes on and on. Excuses to justify our inability to take risks or venture outside of our comfort zone in our lives and accept the current situation that we program ourselves to live are infinite. When we let these explanations blur our judgment and paralyze the decision-making, everything seems insurmountable.

This is one of two quotes hanging on my office wall that are the cornerstone of my decision-making:

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” —Theodore Roosevelt

We have to make a conscious decision right now to change what we don’t like in our lives. No one will force us to decide and no one will choose for us. We hold all the chips and our life is indicating for us to go all in. There are no side bets or safe bets. It’s all or nothing. Yes, we can lose big. But just imagine going through life thinking of what could have been if we had taken the risk. We would have muted that voice inside our head screaming for us not jump in.

What if retiring in 10 years minimum instead of 5 is what you can only afford because you lack the resources to do so? That is the choice you make. No one made that choice for you, even if you try to convince yourself or the people willing to listen, that you have a valid explanation why you can’t. You can … you just don’t want to form the difficult decision that will alter the outcome.

You want to change certain aspects of your life? Sit down right now and don’t waste another second. Take a piece of paper and a pen, write down where you want to be in 5 years: professional or personal. Be clear and focused. The next step is to clearly write each action required to implement and create accountability towards the planned objective.

Now put down that pen, get up, DO IT!

How long will you continue to apologize for your failure to overcome your obstacles?
